Pilot Final Report (PDF)

A final report on the Urban Living Partnership Pilot Phase was published in November 2018. This summarises outcomes from each of the five pilot projects as well as wider learning points from the pilot phase, recommendations for future research initiatives and an Afterward from Professor Rachel Cooper OBE, Chair of the Urban Living Partnership Advisory Group.

Urban Living Partnership: 12 Month Pilot Progress Overview

The successful Urban Living Partnership pilot projects commenced in June 2016. Each pilot completed a twelve month progress report (Summer/Autumn 2017) for the Partnership and Advisory Group to highlight work progressed, challenges identified and also opportunities that have arisen throughout their diagnostic stage.

Urban Living Partnership: Phase one commences

People living in the cities of Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Newcastle & Gateshead and York will benefit as Phase one of the Urban Living Partnership begins. The partnership was launched by Minister for Universities and Science, Jo Johnson.

Peer review

Following a bidding round in which 41 proposals were submitted, in March 2016 the short-listed candidates were interviewed by a panel of experts. The successful applicants will be announced shortly.

Deadline for proposals - 21 January

The deadline for full proposals, 21 January, is looming fast; but there's still time to make last-minute tweaks before making your submission. Remember, you can still submit a proposal regardless of whether your consortium has already made an expression of interest.

To help you fine-tune your submission, please refer to the attached advisory general feedback document which contains some reflections and feedback based on an analysis of the expression of interest submission stage and which has recently been circulated to the lead contacts for the expressions of interest submitted.

Researchers, innovators and local authorities to realise vision for future cities

Engineers, ecologists, economists and heritage experts will be among diverse research teams joining with local authorities and innovative business to build successful 21st century cities.

Announced by Universities and Science Minister, Jo Johnson today, The Urban Living Partnership will harness the broad spectrum of UK research and innovation expertise to help cities realise their aspiration of healthy, prosperous and sustainable living.

Town Hall Meeting planned October 20

In order to facilitate networking between potential pilot city consortia and showcase a range of valuable research and innovation partners and investments supported by RCUK and Innovate UK, there will be a ‘Town Meeting’ held on 20 October in Birmingham.
